4 Victims Shot at Howe Park - Unsanctioned Gathering Ends in Shooting
On the evening of Saturday April 18, an unauthorized gathering of an estimated several hundred individuals at Howe Park in the Arden-Arcade section of Sacramento turned violent when 20 to 25 rounds were discharged as Sacramento County Sheriff's Office deputies were working to removing people from the park.
What Happened
Shortly after 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County law enforcement was notified about people potentially carrying concealed firearms at Howe Park. A follow-up call mentioned a possible altercation and people leaving the area quickly.
Air support was sent to the area and searched the park but failed to identify any active disturbance.
Even so, a large crowd had come together at Howe Community Park for what authorities described as an unapproved assembly. Law enforcement personnel encircled the park, turned on their emergency lights, and used roughly 15 minutes commanding the crowd to clear out through their vehicle PA systems.
As deputies were in the process of dispersing attendees, upwards of 20 gunshots filled the night air — sending hundreds of people running in every direction.
Those Injured
Four individuals — three men and one woman, each in their 20s — were transported to area hospitals. Two were classified with immediate injuries, one sustained moderate injuries, and one with minor injuries. All four were listed as stable. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire responded to the scene and triaged victims at the incident scene.

What We Know About Suspects
According to scanner audio, it was established that a vehicle of interest — identified as a Kia — was pulled over in nearby Solano County with four detainees. Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to retrieve the detainees and transport them back to Sacramento County. Video evidence confirmed two gunmen were present.
